Inspections with Construction Experience

Not Just a Home Inspector — A Licensed Contractor

Michael J. Turner Home Inspections was founded to provide inspections that go beyond a checklist.

Inspections are performed by a Louisiana-licensed home inspector and state-licensed contractor with extensive experience in residential and commercial construction, electrical systems, HVAC, building science, and moisture diagnostics.

This is not a volume-based inspection company. It is built on accuracy, documentation, and informed explanation.

Every inspection is conducted with the understanding that the findings may be relied upon by buyers, homeowners, real estate professionals, contractors, insurers, and lenders. That level of reliance requires a higher standard.

A Background Built in the Trades

Before entering the inspection profession, Michael J. Turner owned and operated Louisiana-based companies including Turner’s Electric & A/C, Inc. and State Builders, Inc.

His experience includes:

  • Residential and commercial construction
  • Electrical and HVAC installation
  • New construction and major renovations
  • Building system troubleshooting
  • Wind mitigation and structural evaluation

Rather than inspecting homes without field context, he transitioned into inspections after years of building and repairing the systems he now evaluates.

Code Knowledge & Technical Foundation

Code knowledge is used as a technical reference framework to identify improper installations, safety concerns, and performance issues. Inspections remain observational and educational and do not constitute municipal code enforcement.

Educating the Profession

Michael J. Turner has served as:

  • Instructor through Donaldson Educational Services
  • Contributor to inspector licensing education
  • Continuing education provider
  • Member of the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors education board

Teaching the profession strengthens clarity.

Clarity strengthens inspections.

Two Inspectors. One Standard.

Most inspections are performed by Michael J. Turner and Stephen Ledbetter working together on site.

This model allows:

  • Simultaneous system evaluation
  • Cross-verification of findings
  • More complete documentation
  • Reduced time on site

Clients benefit from efficiency without sacrificing thoroughness.

Reports are typically delivered within 12–24 hours.

Speed is achieved through preparation and teamwork — not by reducing scope.

A Higher Standard of Reporting

Reports are:

  • Photo documented
  • Clearly written
  • Structured for decision-making
  • Prioritized by safety, function, and maintenance

The goal is to provide accurate, defensible information so clients can make informed decisions with confidence.

Experience With Moisture & Wood-Destroying Conditions

Michael J. Turner previously held Louisiana pest and termite control credentials and worked in the industry for over 12 years.
While Michael J. Turner Home Inspections does not perform licensed termite inspections or wood-destroying insect reports, this background enhances the ability to recognize:

  • Visible wood damage
  • Conditions conducive to moisture intrusion
  • Structural areas commonly affected by long-term exposure to moisture
  • Indicators that may warrant further evaluation by a licensed pest control professional
